On December 2nd, the Palladium Theatre will be the setting for St. Pete’s Big Give, a special Giving Tuesday event that will bring together 100 Women Who Care St. Petersburg and 100 Good Guys St. Pete for the first time. The groups aim to raise $50,000 for local nonprofits through live audience voting.
Both groups are part of a 700+ chapter, worldwide giving-circle network that works to make a real impact on the communities they serve. They operate on a simple yet powerful principle of gathering a community of individuals, each contributing $100, to provide immediate funding for local charities. Since its inception in 2020, 100 Women Who Care has focused on supporting programs for women and children, while 100 Good Guys, founded in 2023, has concentrated on initiatives that promote prosperity and opportunity. Together, they have the potential to donate more than $1 million within a decade.
Their mission statement reads, “Our organizations are volunteer led so 100% of your donation is forwarded to charity. Our goal is to unite the community through charitable giving. We believe in the power of collective contributions to create a significant impact on local nonprofits.”
The format of the evening is straightforward. Three local nonprofits will present their missions to the audience, which will then vote in real time to determine how the funds are distributed. One organization will receive the largest share, but all participating nonprofits benefit from the group’s collective generosity.
For Lauren Brigman, co-founder of 100 Women Who Care, the most moving part of the evening happens just before the donations are made.
“We focus on the best part of any gala—the give from the heart,” she explains. “Just before donations, an inspiring story is told about someone who was helped by the program. It's the most moving part of the night. No fancy ballroom needed, just a casual evening asking charities to tell us a story that touches our hearts.”
Past recipients have benefited from the efforts of both groups according to Good Guys founder Joseph Papich, "Parc Center for Disabilities is one charity [that]100 Women Who Care and 100 Good Guys have each funded separately."
"When groups like 100 Women Who Care and 100 Good Guys come together, the impact is remarkable…not only for Parc Center for Disabilities, but throughout our entire community,” explains Parc’s President & CEO Michelle Detweiler. “Their collective generosity and spirit of giving are truly inspiring."
Currently, 100 Women Who Care has more than 400 members and 100 Good Guys has over 175. Both groups meet quarterly, creating opportunities for connection and collaboration while providing direct support to local nonprofits.
This year’s joint Giving Tuesday event reflects what can happen when a community comes together with shared purpose. It’s not just about the dollars raised, but about the lives touched and the lasting impact created through collective giving.
